Five Neoliberal Reforms that Dismantle the Educational System and Working Conditions in Education
The Latin American Observatory of Educational Policies (OLPE), which is part of the Education International Latin America (IEAL), presents this document that addresses the main characteristics of the transformation processes of educational systems in Latin America.
In the country-by-country studies previously developed by OLPE, it was identified that the main trends in education in the region are the privatization of public educational systems and the opening of educational trade processes.
In recent decades, there has been a clear articulation between Latin American governments and the private sector that seeks to undermine public education and the work of its workers. Their goal is to turn education into a business, using public resources for private profit.
